Warcraft Universe – History Warcraft – Chapter II: New World

Kvel’talas’s basis
In 6 800 years prior to Warcraft I

The highest elves, led by Dat’Remar (Dath’Remar), left Kalimdor behind and threw down a challenge to the hurricanes Vodovorota. Their fleet wandered on world fragments within long years, they found the secret and lost kingdoms during wanderings. Dat’Remar who took a name Sanstrayder (or “that who goes in the afternoon”) looked for places of considerable magic to construct the new homeland for the people.

At last its fleet on the bank of the kingdom which people in a consequence will call Lorderon (Lordaeron). Making the way in the country, the highest elves founded the settlement within quiet Tirisfalsky Glades (Tirisfal Glades). Several years later, many of them began to go crazy. Rumors went that something angry fell down under this part of the world, but these rumors were never confirmed. The highest elves gathered at way and moved to the North, to other earth rich magic energy.

During transition by the highest elves of severe, mountainous lands of Lorderon, their travel became more risky. Since they were cut actually off from vivifying energiya of the Well of Eternity, many of them got sick from a frigid climate or died of hunger. These changes which strongly disappointed them, however, were the fact that they weren’t immortal or unreceptive to natural elements any more. They also decreased in growth, and their skin lost a characteristic violet shade. Despite these difficulties, they faced a large number of unprecedented beings who were never met in Kalimdore. They found tribes of primitive people who hunted in the ancient woods. However, the most terrible threat which they faced was the greedy and cunning tribe of forest trolls of Zul’Aman (Zul’Aman).

These trolls with the skin covered with a moss could restore the lost extremities and treat strong physical wounds, but they were barbarous and evil race. Amani’s (Amani) empire which stretched across the most part of northern Lorderon, and trolls cruelly battled to hold undesirable strangers far from their borders. Elves were filled with deep hatred to the vicious people of trolls and sought to kill them at once after could notice them.

After long years of wanderings, the highest elves, at last, found the earth which reminded of Kalimdor. Deeply, in the northern woods of the continent, they founded the kingdom Kvel’talas (Quel’Thalas) and swore to create the powerful empire which will eclipse their brothers Kaldoreev. Unfortunately they found very out soon that Kvel’talas was founded on the territory of the ancient city of trolls which for trolls was sacred. Immediately trolls begin to attack masses elfin settlements.

Stubborn elves, without wishing to throw the Novaya Zemlya, used magic which they gathered from the Well of Eternity and kept wild trolls at arm’s length. Under Dat’Remar’s leadership, they were capable to inflict defeat over the armed gangs of Amani who they surpassed with a their number of ten to one. Some elves, listening to ancient precepts Kaldoreev, felt that use of magic could draw attention of envoys of the Flaring Legion. Therefore, they decided to cover the lands with a protective barrier which will allow nevertheless them to work with the spells. They constructed monolithic Runny Stones (Runestones) in various places around Kvel’talas which I noted borders of a magic barrier. Runny Stones, not only disguised magic of elves from threat from other worlds and measurement, but also helped to frighten off superstitious gangs of trolls.

Time went, Kvel’talas became a light monument to efforts of the highest elves and to their magic skill. Its beautiful palaces were processed in the same architectural style as ancient halls of Kalimdor, and elves could interweave it with a natural form of the earth. Kvel’talas became light precious ornament which elves so long created. Silvermun’s meeting was founded as the ruling strength of Kvel’talas though Sanstrayder’s Dynasty supported a little political government. Including seven of the greatest lords of the highest elves, Meeting worked to ensure safety of the countries of elves and people. The surrounded with the protective barrier, highest elves remained not obeyed to old precepts Kaldoreev and continued to use magic almost in all aspects of the life.

During nearly four thousand years the highest elves lived peacefully in the isolated safety of the kingdom. But, despite of everything, vindictive trolls couldn’t be won so easily. They spun intrigues and plots in the depth of the woods and waited until the number of their tribes grows. At last, powerful the army of trolls came out of a dark and more time besieged light spikes

Speaker and Wars of Trolls.
In 2 800 years prior to Warcraft I

At that time when the highest elves fought for the lives against cruel attacks of trolls, absent-minded and nomadic people of Lorderon fought to unite their own tribes. Young tribes of people made attacks on settlements each other, without paying attention to unity of race or honor. Nevertheless one tribe known as Arati (Arathi), realized that trolls became too big threat that to ignore it. All tribes wished to lead Arati to the board with the purpose they could provide the integrated front against gangs of trolls.

Within six years, Arati’s ingenuity bypassed and won against the conflicting tribes. After each victory, Arati was offered by the world and equality to the won people; thus, they won loyalty of those against whom won. Eventually, the tribe of Arati grew and included a huge number of separate tribes, ranks of its army promptly grew. Sure is that they could hold by own efforts an impact of trolls and even solitary elves in case of need, Arati’s military leaders decided to construct powerful fortress — the city in the southern region of Lorderon. The city-state named by Strom (Strom) became the capital of the nation Arati, Arator (Arathor). With Arator’s prosperity, people throughout the extensive continent traveled to the South under protection and Strom’s safety.

The united under one flag, human tribes developed strong, optimistic culture. Toradin (Thoradin), the king Aratora, knew that mysterious elves in Northern lands were under a constant siege of trolls, but refused to risk safety of his people in protection of solitary strangers. Many months passed, and rumors about alleged defeat of elves began to exude from the North down. And only when emaciated ambassadors from Kvel’talas reached Strom, Toradin understood, threat of attack of trolls how really was big.

Elves told Toradin that armies of trolls were numerous and time when trolls destroy Kvel’talas will come, and after they will go further to attack the southern lands. The desperate elves who were very needing military aid hasty agreed to train some elected people in possession of magic in exchange for their help against gangs. Toradin who is suspiciously belonging to any magic agreed to help elves in case of need. Almost at once, elfin wizards arrived to Arator and began to train group of people of magic.

Elves saw that though people and from the birth were clumsy in use of magic, but they had tremendous natural proximity to it. Taught hundred men the bases of magic secrets of elves: no more, than it was necessary to battle against trolls. Convinced that their human pupils were ready to help with fight, elves left Strom and went to the north near powerful armies of the King Toradin.

The joint elfin and human armies faced against overwhelming army of trolls at feet of Alteraksky mountains (Alterac Mountains). Battle continued during many days, but indefatigable armies of Arator, didn’t concede inch of the earth under attacks of trolls. Elfin governors considered that time came to release their magic on the enemy. Hundred human magicians and a great number of elfin wizards called rage of heaven, and ignited armies of trolls. Natural fire prevented vital regeneration of trolls and devoured their distorted forms from within.

As soon as armies of trolls broke a system and tried to run, Toradin’s armies overtook them and cut out each soldier. Trolls and never completely recovered from this defeat, and the history will never see eminences of trolls as one nation. Sure that Kvel’talas is rescued from destruction, elves made guarantee of loyalty and friendship to Arator’s nation and to a family tree of his king, Toradina. People and elves will cherish these peace relations the whole eternity.

Tirisfal’s keepers.
In 2 700 years prior to Warcraft I

With destruction of threat of attack of trolls in Northern lands, Kvel’talas’s elves directed the efforts to restoration of their magnificent homeland. The won Arator’s armies came back home to the southern lands of Strom. Human society of Arator grew and prospered and still Toradin, being afraid that his kingdom will break up the isolated lands if broadens the territory, adhered to Strom’s development as center of the Aratoriansky empire. After peace years of growth and trade, powerful Toradin died of an old age, leaving to the younger generation of Arator freedom to broaden the empire out of borders of lands of Strom.

The initial one hundred magicians, those who were trained in magic by elves expanded their forces and studied mystical disciplines of creation of spells in more detailed depth. These magicians who are originally chosen for their strong will and noble spirit were always engaged in the magic with care and responsibility; however, they delegated the secrets and powers to newer generation which had no concepts about severity of war or a need of self-checking. These young magicians used magic for personal benefit, to the detriment of responsibility for the companions.

As the empire grew and extended to new lands, young magicians extended as well on the southern lands. Owning the mystic forces, magicians protected the brothers from wild beings of the earth and did possible construction of new city-states. Nevertheless, as their powers grew, they became vainer and were isolated from other part of society.

The second Aritoriansky city-state of Dalaran (Dalaran) was founded in the countries to the North from Strom. Many inexperienced wizards left Strom’s borders behind the back and traveled to Dalaran where they hoped to use the new powers with bigger freedom. These magicians used the skills for creation of the bewitched Dalaran’s spikes and received pleasures in the occupations. Dalaran’s citizens respected efforts of magicians and created the raging economy under their protection. As more and more magicians began to practice the art, realnsta fabric around Dalaran began to be weakened and be erased.

Ominous agents of the Flaring Legion which was won after destruction of the Well of Eternity were involved back to the world with careless magicians of Dalaran. Though these rather weak demons didn’t show the force, they seeded a serious disorder and chaos in on Dalaran’s streets. The majority of these demonic manifestations was the isolated events, and ruling Council of Magicians (Magocrats) made that it could to hold such events hidden from public. The most skillful magicians were sent to capture imperceptible demons, but they appeared often, are hopelessly surpassed by lonely agents of a powerful Legion.

After several months of a disorder the superstitious peasantry began to suspect that their magic governors hide something awful from them. Rumors about revolution began to rush on Dalaran’s streets as superstitions of the population called in question the reasons and methods of magicians which it once admired. Council of Magicians, being afraid that peasants will rise and that Strom will take measures against them, they addressed the only race which will understand their peculiar problem — to elves.

After receiving news of Council of Magicians of rather demonic activity in Dalarana, elves quickly sent the most powerful wizards to the human countries. Elfin magicians studied energy streams in Dalarana and drew detailed conclusions from all demonic activity that they observed. They concluded that though there were only several demons, free in the world, the Legion will remain terrible threat while people continue to own powers of magic.

Council of the Silver Moon which operated Kvel’talas’s elves signed the confidential contract with Council of Magicians of Dalaran. Elves told to Council of ancient Kalimdor’s history and the Flaring Legion, history which still threatened the peace. They told people that while they use magic of the world, they have to protect the population from evil plans and agents of the Legion. Council of Magicians suggested to authorize the only hero mortal which will use their general forces to wage infinite, confidential war against the Legion. It was underlined that the majority of mankind never has to learn about Keepers (Guardians) or threat of the Legion, in fear of revolts and paranoia. Elves agreed to the offer and founded secret society which will monitor the choice of the Keeper and to prevent emergence of chaos in the world.

Society held the secret meetings in the shaded Tirisfalsky Glades where the highest elves for the first time located in Lorderona. Thus, they called this confidential group by Tirisfal’s (Guardians of Tirisfal) Keepers. Mortal heroes who were chosen to become Keepers were filled with improbable forces as elfin and human magic. In spite of the fact that there was always only one Hranitel, they bore in themselves such huge force that could resist individually agents of the Legion everywhere where they wouldn’t be. Sil Hranitel was so great that only Tirisfal’s Council could choose potential successors of a cloak of Hranitel. Every time when Hranitel became too old, or was tired of confidential war against powers of chaos, Council elected the new champion, and under controlled actions directed Hranitel’s force in its new carrier.

Throughout generations, Keepers protected mankind from illusive threat of the Flaring Legion to Arator and Kvel’talas’s countries. Arator grew and prospered while use of magic extended on all empire. Meanwhile, Keepers were always vigilant to manifestation of demonic activity.

Awakening Dwarfs.
In 2 500 years prior to Warcraft I

In ancient times after Titans left Azerot, their children famous as clay (earthen), continued to form and protect world depths. Clay were substantially not interested with affairs of the races living on a surface and only dark depths of the earth wanted to melt.

When the world was split by explosion of the Well of Eternity, it strongly mentioned life of clay. Having swayed with the pain which pierced the earth clay lost the most part of the qualities and sealed themselves within stone chambers where they were created. Uldaman (Uldaman), (Uldum) of Uldum, Ulduar (Ulduar) … it were names of the ancient cities of Titans where clay for the first time took the form and the form. Buried deeply under the world, clay had a rest during eight thousand years.

Though it isn’t clear what awakened them, clay, sealed within Uldaman, eventually, rose from with own hand imposed somnolence. Clay found out that strongly changed during the inaction. Their once stone skin was softened and became smooth and their force over a stone and the earth decreased. They became mortal beings.

Having named itself Dvarfami (Dwarves), the last of clay left Uldaman’s halls and moved to the woken-up world. Still lulled by safety and miracles of a deep subsoil, they founded the huge kingdom under the highest mountain on the earth. They called their earth Khaz Modan (Khaz Modan), or “Gore Khaz “, in honor of Titan of the builder, Khaz’gorot (Khaz’goroth). Building an altar for the father Titan, dvarfa processed a mighty horn in mountain heart. Thus, the city which was under construction around a horn will be called Ayronfordzh since then (Ironforge — the Iron Horn).

Dvarfa, by the nature like to facet jewels and rocks, to go to nearby mountains behind rare and precious minerals. Carried away by the work under the world, dvarfa remained isolated from affairs of their neighbors living on a surface.

Seven Kingdoms
In 1 200 years prior to Warcraft I

Strom continued to act as the cultural center of Arator, but, as well as in a case with Dalaran, many new city-states arose on all continent of Lorderon. Gilneas (Gilneas), Alterak (Alterac), and Cool Tiras (Kul Tiras) were the first of them and though their own customs and applied crafts had each of them, all of them adhered to the joint power of Strom.

Under vigilant supervision of the Award of Tirisfal (Order of Tirisfal), Dalaran became the main center of studying of magic for all earth. Council of the Award which operated Dalaran Kirin Tor (Kirin Tor) founded, specialized group of magicians to which charged cataloguing and researches of each spell, the artifact and magic objects known to mankind at that time.

Gilneas and Alterak became strong allies of Strom and developed powerful armies which investigated the mountain, southern countries Khaz Modana. During this period people met for the first time ancient race of dvarf and traveled around their cave underground city of Ayronfordzh. People and Dvarfy shared various secrets of processing of metal and engineering and found the general passion to battles and the legend of stories.

The city Cool Tiras founded on the big island to the South from Lorderon developed the successful economy based on fishing and navigation. Through some time, Cool Tiras created powerful fleet of merchant ships which floated over all known countries in search of exotic goods for trade. Nevertheless, in spite of the fact that Arator’s economy prospered, its strongest parts began to break up.

Over time, Strom’s governors sought to move their states to magnificent Northern lands of Lorderon and to leave barren lands of the South. Successors of the King Toradina, the last descendants of a family of Arati, claimed that Strom shouldn’t be left and by that entailed discontent of the most part of the population which was similarly seeking to move. Strom’s governors, seeking to find purity and education in not rendered habitable North, decided to leave the ancient city. Far, to the North from Dalaran, Strom’s governors built the new city-state which they called Lorderony (Lordaeron). All continent was called by the name of this city. Lorderon became Mecca for religious pilgrims and all those who looked for internally tranquility and safety.

Arati’s descendants who left limits of ancient walls of ancient Strom decided to lay a way to the south passing the Rocky Mountains Khaz Modana. Their travel, at last, ended after long, long transition, and they located in northern area of the continent which they will name Azerot. In the fertile valley they founded the kingdom Stormvind (Stormwind) which quickly became independent force by right.

Not all soldiers left Strom, and decided to remain and protect ancient walls of the city. Strom wasn’t the center of the empire any more, but it developed in the new nation known as Stormgard (Stromgarde). Each of city-states became prospering by right, Arator’s empire actually broke up. As each nation developed own customs and beliefs, they began to separate more and more each other. The dream of the king Toradin of the integrated mankind at last came to the end.

Eygvinn and Hunting for the Dragon
In 823 years prior to this Warcraft I

In spite of the fact that the policy and rivalry of seven human nations were weakened and decreased, the task of Keepers remained the same — to hold the constant, permanent fight against chaos. Many Keepers for these years were replaced, but only one held magic forces of Tirisfal in concrete time. One of the last Keepers of a century caused a stir as the powerful soldier with powers of darkness. Eygvinn (Aegwynn), the quick-tempered human girl, won tests of the Award and accepted a cloak of Keepers. Eygvinn vigorously tracked down and destroyed demons everywhere where I could only find them, but she asked often elders of Council of Tirisfal in which men dominated. She believed that ancient elves and the oldest people who exercised control of Council were too firm in the views and aren’t rather far-sighted to put a decisive end to the conflict with chaos. Impatient in long discussions and debate, she very much wanted to seem worthy equal to her by situation and seniors, and as a result often preferred valor of wisdom in important situations.

As her skill grew in space magic of Tirisfal, Eygvinn learned about a great number of mighty demons who strode on the ice northern continent of Nortrendu (Northrend). Traveling on the remote Northern lands, Eygvinn traced demons in mountains. There, she found out that demons hunted one of the last survived dragons, ancient beings to absorb his congenital force. Powerful dragons who avoided constantly progressing invasion of mortal were almost equal on force to dark magic of the Legion. Eygvinn opposed demons, and by means of noble dragons, destroyed them. As soon as the last demon was sent from the world mortal, the terrifying storm burst on all North. The huge dark shape appeared in the sky over Nortrend. Sargeras, the king and the master of demons of the Flaring Legion, appeared before Eygvinn and bristled up infernal energy. He told the young Keeper that Tirisfal’s time comes to an end and that the world will fall on knees before attack of the Legion soon.

Proud Eygvinn, believing that it is worthy on force to the menacing god, I struck with the force Sargeras’s embodiment. With the stunning ease, Eygvinn broke the Master Demonov and destroyed his physical cover. Being afraid that Sargeras’s spirit will get into it, naive Eygvinn, locked the destroyed cover of his body within one of ancient halls of Kalimdor who was at the bottom of the sea after explosion of the Well of Eternity. Eygvin never learns what she made precisely as Sargeras planned. It on imprudence irrevocably decided destiny of the mortal world while Sargeras, during his material death, managed to move the spirit to the weakened body Eygvinn. Without the knowledge of the young Keeper, Sargeras remained hidden within the most dark failures of her soul within long years.

War of Three Hammers
In 230 years prior to this Warcraft I

Dvarfa of the Mountain Ayronfordzh lived in the world within many long centuries. However, their society became too big for their mountain cities. Though the powerful High King, Modimas Anvilmar (Modimus Anvilman), rules of a dvarfama justice and wisdom, three strong fractions arose in society Dvarfov.

Clan Bronzoborodykh (Bronzebeard) operated by the Thane Madoran Bronzoborody (Thane Madoran Bronzebeard) maintained close contact with the High King and by tradition was a defender Gory Ayronfordzh. The clan of the Wild Hammer (Wildhammer) operated by Tang Khardros the Wild Hammer (Thane Khadros Wildhammer) inhabited the foothills and rocks around feet of the mountain and sought to receive more influence in the city. The third fraction, clan of Dark Iron, was operated by the thane wizard Torissan (sorcerer-thane Thaurissan). This clan disappeared in the most dark depths at the foot of a hill and made plot and against both clans of the brothers Bronzoborodykh and the Wild Hammer.

Some time these three fractions adhered to the fragile world, but the intense relations broke when the High King Anvilmar died from an old age. Three ruling clans launched war for the power over Ayronfordzh. Civil war Dvarfov raged underground many years. Eventually, Bronzoborodye which had a numerous standing army sent clans of Dark Iron and Wild Hammers from under the mountain.

Кхардрос and his soldiers of clan of Wild Hammers went to the north through a gate Dan of Algaz (Dun Algaz), and they founded the own kingdom in far peak Batol’s (Grim Batol) Make-up. There, their clan prospered and filled up the storerooms with treasures. Torissan and his clan of Dark Iron acted not this way adequately. Offended and angered by the defeat, they swore to revenge Ayronfordzhu. Having taken away the people far to the south, Torissan founded the city (which it called by own name) in beautiful Redridzhsky Gore (Redridge Mountains). Prosperity and last years didn’t weaken rage of Dark Iron to the cousins at all. Torissan and his wife the magician, Modgad (Modgud), began double attack against Ayronfordzha and Batol’s Make-up. Clan of Dark Iron all Khaz Modan was going to subordinate to himself.

Armies of Dark Iron struck citadels of the brothers, and almost took both kingdoms. However, Madoran Bronzoborody eventually removed the clan to a decisive victory over magic army of Torissan. Torissan and his colleagues ran back in safety of own city, without realizing the events which are taking place in Batole’s Make-up where Modgad is necessary to army not better against armies of Khardros and his soldiers of the Wild Hammer.

Resisting to enemy soldiers, Modgad used the force and I hit with fear on their hearts. Shadows moved on its team, and dark beings crept out of earth depths, pursuing Wild Hammers even in their own arches. Modgad broke through gate and I besieged fortress. Wild Hammers desperately battled, Khardros, personally broke through crowds, and killed the queen-magician. With loss of the queen, clan of Dark Iron ran under a furious impact of Wild Hammers. They aspired to the south to a citadel of the king, but on the way met armies of Ayronfordzha who arrived to revenue Batolu’s Make-up. Forces of Dark Iron broken between two armies, remained were completely destroyed.

The joint armies of Ayronfordzha and Batol’s Make-up went to the south, intending to destroy Torissana and his clan once and for all. They didn’t leave far when Torissan’s rage poured out in a spell of the catastrophic sizes. Seeking to call the superstrong assistant who would guarantee him a victory, Torissan called the ancient forces sleeping under the world. To his surprise and death, the being who appeared was more awful than any a nightmare which it could only imagine.

The master of fire of Ragnaros (Ragnaros Firelord), the immortal master of all fiery elementaly, sent by Titans in times when the world was still young. Now, Torissana released by a paternoster, Ragnaros broke to the world again. Apocalyptic revival of Ragnaros in Azerota, destroyed Redridzhsky Mountains and created the raging volcano in destruction epicenter. Vulcan famous as the Spike of the Black Rock (Blackrock Spire), was limited by the Singed Gorge in the north and the Flaring Steppes in the south. In spite of the fact that Torissan was killed with forces which he let out the, his survived brothers, eventually, Ragnarosom and his Elementalyami were enslaved. They remain in the Spike to this day.

Being witnesses of the terrifying devastation and the fires extending on the southern mountains, the King Madoran and the King Khardros stopped the armies and hasty came back to the kingdoms, without wishing to resist to frightening anger of Ragnaros.

Bronzoborody, came back to Ayronfordzh and restored the magnificent city. Wild Hammers also returned to the Make-up Batol. However, the death Modgad cast an evil shadow on mountain fortresses, and Wild Hammers found him already unfit for human habitation. They were afflicted up to the heart depth with loss of the beloved of the house. The king Bronzoborody suggested Wild Hammers to live in borders of Ayronfordzha, but they adequately refused. Кхардрос Lorderona led the people to the north of people to lands. Having settled in the magnificent woods of Internal areas (Hinterlands), Wild Hammers built the city Airey Pik (Aerie Peak — Pik of the Eagle Nest) where Wild Hammers became closer to the nature and even made friends with the powerful griffins living in that district.

Seeking to save communication and trade with the brothers, Dvarfy Ayronfordzha constructed two massive arches, Tandol Span (Thandol Span), having connected a gap between Khaz Modanom and Lorderon. These two kingdoms which are urged on by mutual trade prospered. After Madoran and Khardros’s death, their sons in common established two huge statues in honor of the fathers. These two statues stood to guards on pass to the southern lands which I became volcanic because of the scorching Ragnaros’s presence. They served as the prevention to all who want to attack kingdoms Dvarfov and as a reminder of that price which clan of Dark Iron was paid for their crimes.

These two kingdoms, saved close ties for several years, but Wild Hammers strongly changed because of horrors which they saw in Batole’s Make-up. They began to live on the earth, on Airey Pik’s slopes instead of building the extensive kingdom in the mountain. Ideological distinctions between two saved clans Dvarfov led them to a divergence of ways.
